 In developing countries with limited access to clean water and adequate living conditions, water-borne diseases are common. Simply put, water-borne illnesses are caused by viruses and bacteria that enter the body through contaminated water or contact with faces.

Prevention

Giardia:- This infection is mostly caused by a parasite and may spread through contaminated water. Giardia can cause digestive issues in a person after exposure to the parasite can last for years. Among the signs of giardia are the following:-

  • stomach pains and discomfort
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Bloating
  • gain less weight

Prevention

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water.
  • During swimming, avoid taking gulps of water.
  • Drink only bottled water.
